Hillel
Colorado College has two Jewish groups combined into one called
Chaverim/Hillel, which is a way to include all Jewish students,
from reform to Orthodox. Activities include scheduling a Shabbat
dinner once each block as well as bringing speakers to campus,
music groups such as a Klezmer band, and celebrating Jewish
holidays such as hosting a Passover seder, building a Sukkah, etc.
Hillel also provides rides for Jewish students to High Holy day
services at the local temples. The Hillel group has over 100
students on its mailing list this year. The faculty advisor is
currently Ofer Ben Amots, a Colorado College music professor who
spends half the year in Colorado and half the year in Israel, and
Hillel also receives some support from the CC Chaplain. Rabbis
from the Colorado Springs community are involved periodically with
Hillel activities and teach some classes on campus. To contact
Hillel on campus, e-mail
a_stillershu@coloradocollege.edu or call Ari Stiller Shulman at (719)389-7109 (number good through May 14, 2004).

Colorado Springs! The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs
