On Saturday, April 30, 2011, Temple Shalom celebrated its 40th anniversary at the Antlers Hilton Hotel in Colorado Springs. The Gazette featured an article on the history of the Temple entitled Temple Shalom's 40 years of reconciliationView Article.

The article also highlights Woodland Park artist Dale Pittock who built a replica Western Wall for the 40th anniversary celebration. Guests were encouraged to place prayers in the cracks of the wall as custom in the real one in Jerusalem and a representative from the will deliver them later to the real wall.

Richard Kwessel - magician, motivational speaker and Temple Shalom B'nai Mitzvah Class of 1994 served as emcee. The 40th Anniversary Chair and Celebration Chairs were Perry Bach and Trudy Taxman respectively. The event committee included Amy Cook-Porter, Susan Eisenman, Paulette Greenberg, Norma Hollister, Judy Kaiser, Jeanne Libert, Esther Mueller and Carrie Trookman.  The event started with a Champagne Reception followed by Havdalah and dinner and program. Guests enjoyed dancing to Randy Rodriguez.

The Topaz sponsor for the evening was American National Bank & The Sturm Family Foundation.  Emerald sponsors included the Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado, Liberts, Swan Law and Merrill Lynch. Thanks very much to our sponsors!
