Temple Shalom and Colorado Springs celebrated Mitzvah Day on May 15, 2011.
Members of Temple Shalom and the Colorado Springs community gave back to the community by:
- Brightening the day of seniors at a retirement home with crafts and song.
- Making 13 blankets to donate to Starlight Foundation.
- Collecting food and toys to donate to Care and Share, and Starlight Foundation, respectively.
- Collecting, sorting, and bagging a tremendous amount of toiletries to give to Tessa for women dealing with difficulties in life.
- Painting at Dale House (and I think even bought them pizza to boot).
- Cleaning out a garage at Zach's Place.
- One brave family went in the weather to clean the parks.
- Polishing silver, cleaning out storerooms and classrooms, and gaving our Temple a freshening up.
- 37 people donated blood, or offered to donate blood.
- And, 5 people donated or will donate hair for Locks of Love/Pantene.
Thanks to Sisterhood, Men’s Club, PTO, Hadassah – Colorado Springs Chapter, Great Harvest Bread Company, Sinton Dairy, Starbucks Coffee, and Brugger’s Bagels for their generous donations.
And, our fabulous Mitzvah Day Committee: Sue Mullin, Leslie Hickey, Kate Raphael, Carrie Hargraves, Gary Neuger, Mark Levine, Lynne Brown, Susan Eisenman and Elayna Rathmann.
